General Summary

The employee in this position is expected to provide mechanical system design and analysis capability in support of the Eclipse 550 very light jet program. They will support changes to the existing design, create new designs in support of major design improvements and provide engineering liaison support to suppliers and manufacturing. They will act as a lead for mechanical systems related FAA certification projects. Must be a self-starter, able to understand the interactions between the different engineering disciplines and able to work in a cooperative, dynamic, team oriented environment.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Design of aircraft mechanical systems (new designs and design changes to reduce cost and improve producibility) to include aircraft ice protection systems, throttle design and air data system (re)design
• Project management of mechanical systems related FAA certification projects
• Provide design engineering liaison support to suppliers and manufacturing
• Participate in producibility improvement and cost reduction initiatives

Required:

  • Bachelor degree or higher, BSME preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in aircraft mechanical systems design
  • Must be knowledgeable in the design of VCS systems, landing gear systems, hydraulic systems, oxygen systems, de-ice systems and flight control systems
  • Experience using Siemens Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM) software.
  • Experience using Siemens Unigraphics CAD modeling software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products

 Preferred:

  • Pragmatic in approach and willing to lead by example
  • Good technical writing skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: this is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work may be performed in an office, warehouse or hangar environment with exposure to noise from aircraft and machinery. Light physical demands associated with an office work environment. May need to lift/move materials up to 25lbs. with or without assistance.

TRAVEL: 10% or less travel

REPORTS TO: Manager, Mechanical Engineering

SCHEDULE: M-F / exempt position with a minimum work week of 40 hours

SALARY RANGE: $88K – $120K / year
