Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Paints aircraft interior, exterior and piece parts.
  • Prepares for painting by masking, stripping/sanding, washing aircraft sections and components.
  • Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency.
  • Performs detail and touch-ups.
  • Sets-up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.
  • Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment.
  • Mix paints and primers.
  • Perform leading edge sealant work in final detail.
  • Comply with all safety and housekeeping policies.
  • Use personal protective equipment and ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:

  • High school diploma/GED (or a minimum of 6 years  relevant experience)
  • Ability to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification
  • Three (3) years of painting experience. A working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation

Preferred:

  • Experience using SAP
  • SSPC/ERAU Aerospace Coatings Applicator Certification highly desired

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, crawl, twist and kneel. There is repetitive motion to this position of all extremities. The employee must be able to move up to and in excess of 50 pounds safely with and without the assistance of machinery as required, climb in and out of aircraft as well as climbing up and down ladders and maintenance stands.

Employee will need to work near moving mechanical parts and machinery, in loud working conditions. Working Conditions will be both in climate controlled environments, as well as in the natural elements, as the nature of the position dictates that some of the activities associated with this position will be performed both inside and outside of a controlled structure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

REPORTS TO: Manager, Paint Shop

SCHEDULE: M-Th / 10 hour shift

SALARY RANGE: $17 – $25 / hour

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
